Most municipalities in Japan will have an extensive online version of their living guide (生活ガイド) which contains lots of useful information about how to register for things, dealing with your trash, community centers and sports gyms, libraries (GOOD!!), etc. They are good input sources and if you ever live in Japan are essential for your everyday life.
